Comparing name numbers? Use the same table on both sides

Comparing two name spellings is only an arithmetic comparison if the same mapping and reduction policy are used on both sides. Otherwise the worksheet changes both the input and the method at once. A different result cannot then be attributed to spelling alone. This example treats numerology as a disclosed symbolic exercise, not a test of which identity someone ought to adopt.

Freeze the method before comparing

Use the repeating A-to-Z teaching table in which A through I are 1 through 9, then the sequence starts again. For the fictional string MIRA, the values are M4, I9, R9 and A1, totalling 23 and reducing to 5. For MEERA they are M4, E5, E5, R9 and A1, totalling 24 and reducing to 6.

The comparison changes the spelling but keeps the mapping, punctuation handling and ordinary reduction rule fixed. Retain both full value sequences so another reader can check them. A bare 5 versus 6 hides the inputs and cannot show whether an accent, space, repeated letter or entire name part was silently removed.

Change one variable at a time

If someone wants to compare a Chaldean-style table as well, create a second complete pair of worksheets. Do not calculate MIRA with one table and MEERA with another, then describe the difference as the effect of adding a letter. Distinct tables assign different values, so the experiment would no longer isolate the selected spelling change.

Similarly, do not retain a special intermediate number on one side while fully reducing the other. A method that treats 11 or 22 differently must specify where the exception applies and apply it consistently. If a report conceals that choice, ask for the missing method rather than guessing from its interpretation.

Interpret the comparison modestly

The arithmetic establishes that these two fictional strings produce different totals under this particular table. It does not establish that either spelling is luckier, more professional or more faithful to a person's culture. Real names can carry family, linguistic, legal and personal significance that a digit calculation cannot adjudicate.

If someone independently chooses a new name, support clear records and respectful use of that name rather than promising better outcomes from the number. When documenting a comparison, include the exact inputs, one fixed table, the unreduced totals, the reduction sequence and any exclusions. Finish with a limited statement about the calculation. A numerical difference can be fully explained without turning it into a recommendation to alter documents, relationships or a person's sense of who they are.
