What an AI explanation should show about selected chart context

An AI explanation can sound personal even when its connection to the selected chart is unclear. Fluent language is not proof that the correct profile, date or calculation settings were used. NIST's generative-AI risk guidance discusses confident but erroneous generated content. A useful chart explanation should therefore make its context inspectable without exposing private records or pretending that the model has checked information it was never given.

Identify the selected subject and scope

Before reading the interpretation, check which profile or result the interface says is selected. In a fictional family workspace, a question about one member should not silently use another member's chart. A display name can help identify the selection, but it should not reveal unnecessary birth details when the screen is shared publicly.

The answer should also distinguish a natal result from a selected transit date or another calculation. A statement about today's conditions is not automatically supported by a chart calculated for a different day. If the relevant date or context is missing, ask for clarification rather than inferring that a fluent paragraph must have the intended scope.

Separate supplied context from generated explanation

A model can explain values supplied by a calculation system without independently calculating them. That boundary should be clear. A sentence saying the supplied chart lists a placement is different from a claim that the model verified the astronomical calculation. Sources and settings belong to the calculation layer, not to a model's confidence.

If the answer introduces a placement that is not visible in the selected result, treat it as unconfirmed. Do not change the underlying birth data merely to make the explanation fit. Record the discrepancy and compare the exact field through the ordinary interface or a properly configured calculation check.

Report a mismatch with minimal private information

A useful report names the page, selected result type, approximate time and the conflicting statements. Crop or redact unrelated names, birth details and conversation content. Never include passwords, access tokens or another person's private records in a public bug report. Support can request a safer, authorised diagnostic route if necessary.

Until the mismatch is resolved, do not use the explanation as a basis for an important decision. A corrected paragraph should say what changed and what remains uncertain rather than implying that the original was reliable. This checklist is a reading standard, not a claim that every current interface exposes every field described here. The goal is a visible chain from selected context to explanation, with uncertainty acknowledged wherever that chain cannot be checked.
